Thanksgiving & Birthday weekend

We spent Thanksgiving in Melbourne with the Family. Lily was so happy to see Allison and I know Allison was happy to see her too. Tonight Lily told me that she missed Allison. Sweet.

I didn't put them up to this for the picture, they were hugging when I walked in the room and luckily I had my phone in my pocket so I was able to snap this one.

We left Lily in Melbourne and went to Islands of Adventure for my birthday

On my birthday, I was allowed to have a beer before noon because "on your birthday you can do whatever you want"

In the car on Thanksgiving day en route to Melbourne. I did my makeup in the car, so Lily had to do her make up too.

Dear Santa,

A few family types have asked for our wish lists, so here goes...

Lily was a good girl this year and would like:
- Pajamas

- Slippers

- puzzles

- play doh

- Disney movies on DVD (we only have Finding Nemo and Shrek so anything else is fine)

- anything for make believe (play kitchen, baby carriage, that sort of thing but not dress up, she isn't into that yet)

- She wears size 3T or 4T

Ross was a good boy this year and would like:

- a rugby ball (you would think the broken jaw would have made him lose interest!)

- dri-fit type golf shirt

- leather wallet

- he wears size L in shirts and 32 in pants

Shelley was a very good girl this year and would like:

- Roller blades (see photo...available at Target)
- FSU thong crocs (also, See photo)
- Live: Live at the Paradiso CD
- Red Potholder (the one that you put your hand in that is shaped like a mitten)
- Vintage Apron books or patterns

- two extra hours of sewing time

- round cutter thingy-do so I can make polymer clay buttons (like this set)

- That purse in the picture

Brandi, not to be left out, SAYS that she was a good girl this year, but I highly doubt it, would like:
- a crock pot
- a camera
- bike tires
- winged coffin T-shirt in size Medium (available at Addictedtorockabilly.com... but if you are reading this and want to buy it for her, email me for a discount)
- Rock Steady Spine button up in size Large (same)
- a computer

Quick picture post

I had to post this one, it was from September of '07 and the one below is from this week. Funny how it is still fun to play in this cabinet! Although back then she was trying to get to the cereal, her mom is a genious and has since moved the cereal to a shelf she can't reach, now it is a spot for hide & seek

Ok, so it doesn't show up very well here (I don't know why my pics are so small) but there is a Gi-normous iguana in my yard. I couldn't get closer because I HATE lizards and giant lizards really freak me out but the fact that it is in my yard was kinda picture worthy.

this is my best Bowling game of all time! I got a 154 right after being getting stuck in the bathroom. I was dead sober and due to a faulty doorknob, got locked in the bathroom of the bowling alley and my friends had to bust the door down! Thankfully I had my phone in my pocket and a firefighter in our group, otherwise I might have been in there a really long time!

yet another boo boo

she fell down while running into the house to tell me something. I was a few feet out of reach on one side, Ross a few feet out of reach behind her. We both saw it happen in slow motion. This one swelled up to be about a quarter inch off her head. I took this picture about 5 minutes after it happened and as you can see, she is not at all bothered by it. She has got to be the toughest, clumsiest kid in the world.

Race Update & Lily's tounge flicking lisp

I have been meaning to post about the race for the cure that we did last month but never seem to get around to everything on my list. We raised a load of money for the Susan G. Komen foundation. The total that shows up on our team page is $1045.00 but Christine turned in another $180 in cash on race day that didn't end up on our total. We rock! My goal was to get 10 people to join my team. I had 6 official members but it was just Nichole, Christine & I who actually did the race. I was planning to run but because I had to bring Lily with us, we had to walk instead. We had a horrible race time (as you can see from the photo... with .1 mile left to go) but had a wonderful time. We were all inspired to do it again next year and vowed to do it kid-less so that we really could get a good race time.

I've been trying my best to get a good video of Lily talking because she is so funny right now. She has a lisp which I try not to worry myself too much about, but she has also started doing this tongue flicking thing trying to get her 'L's right. In this video if you can't understand her, she is saying "Two Chocolates" at the end.

This video highlights that fact that it is truely official, Lily is a two year old. She is saying "play something" as she is throwing that tantrum because she is tired of me taking pictures and wants me to play with her.

Halloween pictures

We carved our pumpkin the day before Halloween so that it didn't end up yucky and gooey like last year. Ross did the main carving part outside then Lily and I moved it inside for the detail work. I have a pic of the finished product on my phone so it will be a day or two before I get it to the computer.

We went to a party hosted by the city in a park downtown and we had so much fun. Lily ran around in the grass and actually interacted with some other kids. They had a costume contest and Lily made the top 5 but then lost to a pink crayon. It was one of those contests that is judged by who yells the loudest and I think the pink crayon had a very big family.

After that Ross & Lily went home and I went to O'Malley's where I was one of the finalists in the contest there. Didn't win though, never do.

Halloweeeeeeennnnnn

This first pic was taken awhile back but I've been meaning to post it for my cousin Melissa. She loves her "mingo" and carries it everywhere.
Last night we went to what must have been the dumbest Hallween event on the planet. It was on the beach so we stopped in to make Brandi come with us (She is living on the beach again for those who didn't know) and I have no idea what is with that hat that she is wearing.

We ended up having a good time anyway because I brought my rollerblades and Lily went for a ride eating ice cream while I skated and Ross ran. The weather has cooled off here lately so it was really a nice night for that. Too bad that no one got to see Lily's costume.

Tonight we are carving pumpkins so more pictures to come.

I sold my first KITSCHY APRON today! Yay! My friends didn't believe that people would pay $45 for an apron, they were wrong. It took me 6 hours to make, so even though $45 for an apron sounds like a lot, it just wasn't an ordinary apron and didn't work out to being alot of money for my time.
I'm still excited non the less.

Lily loves to sing

This video is of Lily counting. She is a very cood counter, just not in this video

The next video is of one of Lily's favorite songs "Here we go 'round the Mulberry bush" she sings it and runs in a circle. As you will see, it can be annoying sometimes.

The next video is Lily's favorite song, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" she will sing it every time she sees a star. This song has prevented us from learning the ABC song because she gets to C then switches to twinkle.

These little darlings are our friend's who live in England. They were over for a wedding and we got to see them just for an afternoon. Lily was so excited about getting to see two babies. She kept saying "two babies" over and over. She couldn't grasp the concept of one being a girl and one being a boy. To her they were neither boy nor girl, they were just "two babies" I am usually very strict about eating meals at the table, but on gameday we get to eat on the couch. Lily thinks it is a great treat. You'll know it is gameday by her uniform. Today the Miami Dolphin pre-game show came on and she ran to her room to get her jersey because she heard football on TV. She is showing us her V8. She LOVES V8. I have to hide them in the back of the fridge because as soon as she sees one, she will throw a temper tantrum until she gets it.

She got stuck on this thing at the park. I'm a terrible mom for taking a picture before helping her down. The funny thing is that this park was packed that day, but somehow or another no one else is in this picture. How does that happen?

Race for the Cure only a little over a week left update

Ok, Race day is a week from Saturday and we are only $25.00 shy of our $1000.00 goal. We are also 4 participants shy of our 10 participant goal. O'Malley's having their golf tournament on the same day really screwed it up for getting my friends to get involved, but they do offer the "Sleep In for the Cure" option. You just sign up and pay the race entrance fee but don't show up. Cool huh? You still get a t-shirt too!
Many many of my family members have donated generously and I am so appreciative. It is wonderful that we've come so close to such a lofty goal.
I'm putting together the plans for getting there and a meet up spot, so if you are running/walking with us, stay tuned for info about that.
April, I'm assuming you are "sleeping in", if so, I need your address so send your shirt once I pick them up.

I've been running consistently 3 days a week and have gotten very close to meeting my goal of being able to run 4 miles without stopping. I doubt that I'll make my goal of beating my best time (27 min 33 sec.) but I'm going to try my best.

October so far

My dad was shopping online again....
so, Lily got a new cheerleading uniform! (and that is lipstick in her hand... been in mommy's purse again) She wore it to the babysitter's house on Saturday while Ross & I went to the game. I've got a couple of pictures from the game but haven't downloaded them yet. It was a crazy day, another blog post altogether.
So Sunday, Lily helped me process my new inventory, this is her new face that she does every time I get the camera out.
And then this is the face that she does when she doesn't get what she wants.
Earlier in the week we went to a birthday party. I'm pretty sure that this was Lily's first kid party. She was so sweet. I was so proud of her. She is really shy and of course didn't talk to anyone but she had a great time. She bounced and bounced in the bounce houses and sat with the other kids to eat pizza. She loved climbing to the top of the slide but I kept having to get my friends to push her down because she refused to come down on her own.

Stitch Rock indie craft fair Delray

I've joined a group of professional crafters and they are hosting the after-party for this Saturday's Indie Craft fair in DelRay Beach. I plan to attend the craft fair (unfortunately, we don't have booth) but being that it is the same day as the FSU/Miami game, I'll be at the game when the party is happening. Tired, excited, depressed

I'm overly tired but feel bad that I haven't posted in my blog in so long, so I'm going to make it quick. I'm excited because I joined a crafters club and have signed up to do a craft show in December (my first ever!) and depressed because the Noles lost tonight in a pathetic game.
This picture is of Lily in one of the new dresses my dad sent her.

This picture is of Lily playing soccer with her soccer ball that Uncle David and Sherah got her for her birthday. She is a very good kicker!

and this picture was taken two seconds later when I told her that she could not have cookies for dinner. Her newest talent is going from happy to tears in a split second.

I don't wash Zelda and Lily together, Zelds just jumped in so I ran with it and let Lily wash her. Then, of course, I let all the water out, took out the dog and re-washed the baby.

For the past couple of weeks Lily has decided that she likes to sew. She comes to me and says "sew mommy?" and pulls me into the cave to sew. I don't let her sew on her own, but she sits in my lap and tells me "watch fingers mommy" then pulls the pins out once I've finished the seam and puts them on the magnet for me. I've gotten quite a bit of sewing done!

My mom saved all sorts of things from our childhood. I'm assuming that she saved them with the intention of letting her grandchildren play with them. (eBay wasn't around back then... so it couldn't have been that reason)
She saved all the parts and the boxes and everything. How in the heck could someone have four kids and still manage to do that? Anyway, when Daddy moved from Marietta we got rid of a bunch of it simply because no one had the space to store it. I saved some of my favorites. See here, Lily likes Strawberry Shortcake too.

Good work by Jason Wood

I put an ad on Craigslist to find a graphic designer willing to do a logo for me for Betty's Team for the Race for the Cure. I wrote in the ad that we were just a group of people running in the Race trying to raise money for Breast Cancer Research & Awareness and that we wanted a logo but didn't have any money to pay for it.
I got three responses, two of them obviously didn't read the ad all the way through because they sent me pretty hefty estimates and one even wrote an entire paragraph about why he would not begin working without a deposit. (What would 20% of Zero be?... I'll send it right away)
however, there still are good people out there because this very nice guy Jason Wood volunteered. I sent him this picture

And he designed this logo for us!

Yay! Now I just need to go html code it so that I can plaster it everywhere

Lily has been getting so expressive with her words. I'm sure that I understand more than most people, but I can get about 95% of what she is saying without having to ask her to repeat. She still messes up some things. This is how she asks me to carry her "mommy, carry you" or will say "help you clean up? please" when she is asking me to help her pick up her cereal that she spilled.

It is just so amazing to listen to her sometimes. She loves her new babysitter and talks non-stop about everything she does on Thursdays. Yesterday she must have said "go back, mimi house, ok?" a dozen times on the way home yesterday. The "ok?" at the end of things just cracks me up. She says it all the time. "go to the park, ok?", "help Daddy, ok?" I need to get it on video.

My dad was shopping online yet again, so yesterday a package came addressed to Lily. She understands what a present is and started jumping all around asking me to open it. The word open has been one that we are working on. She will say "bo-hen" but if I ask her to say it slow she will say it right. You'll see that in the video. Another cute thing she does lately is also on this video. You can tell the things that we say to her all the time by the very end of the video where she says "there ya go"

ok, so, BETTY's TEAM update for the Race for the Cure:
We've raised $793.00!!! and have 5 team members now. Nichole, Brandi & Tonya still haven't signed up yet but all three tell me that they have intentions to participate. If so, then all I have to do is talk Sam & one of the girls from my SAHM group to join. That would give us 10 (we can of course have more, but that was my goal)
If those 5 more members join the team than their race entry fees will bump us up to only $72.00 short of our goal.
I'm so proud and excited that we are actually going to be able to reach the goals that I set. I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to do it.
